“The Foreseeable Future: A World Exclusively Female” imagines a place where for nearly ten years there have been no recorded male births in the United States or the entire world. Around the year 2035, unprecedented youth violence reigned throughout the world. A series of events and bad decisions by world leaders ultimately led to the development of a drug to control youth aggression and violent behavior. One of the side effects from the drug eliminates the ability to produce a male offspring. Unable to reverse the side effect, a genetic engineer developed a process to enable human reproduction and preserve humankind. Disobeying the directives of her employer who wanted to maintain the female-only status quo, the scientist continued researching and eventually developed a way to genetically produce male progenies. Covering the nearly 50 year time period, the story is unfolded by “Jessica Kindle” using a kind of frame narrative from a document left behind by her mother who died from a mysterious accident at the Femina Genitus Research Facility. The chronology of events, as portrayed by “Jessica”, reveals the many secrets and covert actions by government leaders that led to a world exclusively female. Motivated by the last wishes of her mother, Jessica is determined to not only make the world aware of what occurred but also the scientific breakthrough found by her mother.
